The Smuggler’s Guide Series is a how-to live “off the grid” coaching burrito. This is a burrito wrapped in an adventure story tortilla. All the books detail how I managed to live a totally alternative lifestyle.

Many of my readers just escape into the adventures. However, some of my readers tell me that the stories inspired them to create their own alternative adventures and lifestyles.

Then, there is another facet of my narratives. Some readers use my stories as a manual for long distance non-stop voyaging, with smuggling as a way to finance the sailing lifestyle.

There are three books in the Smuggler’s Guide series, as of now only one is published: A Smuggler’s Guide to Good Manners. The second book will be published this summer, 2020: A Smuggler’s Guide to Fine Dining, a Sailor’s Hunger and the Ravenous Sea.

The burrito filling inside the story tortilla is chocked full of solid information about smuggling and sailing. The storm segments tell of horrible storms survived through effective storm management. Storm sailing theories are discussed with concrete examples, how Moitessier’s method actually worked in real life, upwind sail theory in practice also by example.

Another part of the filling is smuggling advice: Who to trust, how to recognize the bad guys, how to avoid getting caught. There are long discussions about profile and the role of profile in staying out of the clutches of the government.

In the end Instructional Nonfiction is a genre that is an entertaining way to learn.
